Vassilka is Registered Clinical Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a member of PACFA.
Always interested in the human condition and what makes people tick, she has undertaken various paths to explore and experience people and how we all transform through life.
Vassilka began her formal studies in counselling in 2008 at ACAP, and in 2013 she qualified as a Counsellor with MA in Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy from the Jansen Newman Institute. She has worked in the non for profit sector, mostly with people recovering from Complex Trauma, child abuse, DV, gambling addiction, personality disorders. She has worked with both adult men and women.
She values the relationship and her approach is rooted in the psychodynamic interpersonal framework, however, she draws on other modalities, such as ACT and IFS. She takes into consideration the social determinants to health, cultural and structural violence, and power struggles and how all is part of your experience of life. She is also interested how emotional distress and trauma manifest in the body and have respect for the body as a communicator of what cannot be expressed otherwise.
With background in the performing and creative arts, she finds healing, aka psychotherapy to be a creative process, involving both therapist and a client, aka - we are both part of this process.
